AMERICAN President Donald Trump confirmed that the United States has launched strikes on Iran in an eight-minute video he posted on his social network Truth Social, as well as on X.
Trump confirmed in the video that the United States has initiated “major combat operations” against Iran.
He said that Tehran’s “threatening activities” “directly endanger the United States, our forces, our bases abroad, and our allies around the world.”
“For 47 years,” Trump added, “the Iranian regime has chanted ‘Death to America’ and carried out a relentless campaign of bloodshed.”
He referred to the hostage crisis at the U.S. embassy from 1979 to 1981, when 66 hostages were held captive for 444 days.
“That was mass terror and we will not tolerate it any longer,” he added, claiming that Iran had attempted to revive its nuclear program and was developing long-range missiles.
Trump then said he would “destroy their missiles” and “destroy their navy,” adding that steps had been taken to avoid casualties, but that “Americans could be harmed.”
He told Iran’s Revolutionary Guard to “lay down your weapons” or “face certain death.”
Addressing the Iranian people, Trump said that “the hour of your freedom is near” and warned them that “bombs will fall everywhere.”
“When we are finished, take back your government — it will be yours,” he added.
