Did Trump Really “Take Him Out” — And Will the War Last Only Thirty Days?

American President Donald Trump stated that potential successors to Iran’s supreme leader were killed in Saturday’s joint U.S.–Israeli attacks. His comments, given to ABC News, come at a time of uncertainty surrounding the transition of power in Iran following the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei.

In a conversation with journalist Jonathan Karl, Trump claimed the attack was extremely successful. “The attack was so successful that it eliminated most of the candidates,” he said. “It won’t be any of the ones we were thinking about because they’re all dead. The second and third on the list are dead as well.”

Trump also commented on the killing of Khamenei himself. “I got him before he got me. They tried twice. Well, I got him first,” he said, as reported by Index.hr.

It is worth recalling that in 2024 the U.S. Department of Justice announced federal indictments related to a foiled plot aimed at assassinating Trump ahead of the presidential election. According to court documents, Iranian officials allegedly asked one suspect, Farhad Shakeri, to focus on surveillance and the eventual execution of an assassination attempt against Trump.

The American president, Donald Trump, said on Sunday, March 1, that he estimates the fighting with Iran will last about four weeks or less.

In an interview with the British Daily Mail, the U.S. president reportedly said he expects the conflict with Iran to last up to 30 days.

“We calculated that it would last four weeks or so. It was always about a four-week process, so no matter how strong it is, it’s a big country; it will last four weeks or less,” Trump said.
